Chapter 1 Study Guide- Introduction

Disclaimer: The following guide is my best guess on what content will be on the exam. I do not know what exactly will be on the exam but I have helped over a thousand health care professionals pass the exam.

Chapter 1- Introduction
Importance: Low- Read once (there are five categories: Ignore, Low, Medium, High and Very High)
Time recommended: 15 min (If you are a fast reader with a good memory then reduce time by half. If you are a slow reader, if English is your second language or you are not good at memorization then double the time. This is only an estimate)

I have highlighted what I think will be important for the exam. However you should read the entire chapter (after “Challenge of Diabetes).

This chapter is not important with the exception of a few key statistics. These statistics show up in other chapters. You can practice memorizing them with the Statistics and Studies Quiz. I would skip reading the first third of the chapter and begin reading at “Challenge of Diabetes” on pg S2. I have never seen any questions on guideline creation.
